UAE specialist visit visas: choosing the purpose that matches your trip

AI, events, entertainment and cruise travel have distinct UAE visit purposes. Here is how to prepare the right supporting evidence before applying.

The UAE's specialist visit routes are worth checking when a trip is built around an event, a technology engagement or a cruise itinerary. The underlying ICP announcement was issued on 29 September 2025. It should not be presented as a new October 2026 launch.

The announcement added visit purposes covering artificial-intelligence specialists, entertainment, events, and tourism by cruise ships or leisure boats. Each purpose is tied to the nature of the visit; the names are not interchangeable labels for a general residence permission.

What makes the application different?

ICP describes a hosting letter from a technology-focused establishment for the AI route. The events route requires a public- or private-sector host and a letter identifying the event and its duration. Cruise applications depend on the itinerary and a host licensed for that activity. These details explain why a generic invitation can leave important questions unanswered.

Start with a one-page description of the journey: who invited you, the activity, dates, location, and who is responsible for arrangements. Give the host the same version you use in your application. If you attend a conference and also have a holiday, explain both elements clearly instead of producing conflicting travel dates.

Questions to resolve with the host

  • Which exact visa service is appropriate for the planned activity?
  • Who submits the application and receives follow-up requests?
  • Does the supporting letter state the dates and purpose accurately?
  • Which fees are government charges and which are provider charges?

The UAE government's visa hub distinguishes visits, entry permits, work permissions and residence services. Use that distinction when discussing the trip with an organiser. An invitation or paid registration is evidence of your plans, not an approval notice. Keep a copy of the issued permission and review its actual conditions before travelling. This explainer is an editorial check of existing routes, not a claim that every visitor qualifies.
