GCC Resident Visa Guide: Compare Six Countries’ Entry Routes

Compare UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait visit routes for GCC residents, with official eligibility links and a practical document checklist.

Does GCC residence give you visa-free entry across the Gulf?

Do not treat a GCC residence permit as a six-country travel pass. Check the destination’s rules for your passport, residence permit and purpose of travel. A resident route may be available, but its conditions belong to that country.

This guide is for people living in a GCC country who want to visit another. It does not cover permission to work or settle there. If you mean the proposed regional tourist scheme, see our separate GCC unified tourist visa status guide.

Before comparing options, note your passport nationality, residence country, residence expiry, occupation as recorded on your permit and whether dependants will travel with you. Enter those details accurately in the official service. An option available to a colleague may not be the option offered for your documents.

GCC resident visit routes: country comparison

These are starting points checked on 21 October 2026, not a universal eligibility decision. Where a service offers several visa types, read the terms for the one selected in your application.

Official routes and the checks that differ by destination
DestinationWhere to startWhat to check
United Arab EmiratesGDRFA Dubai’s GCC resident entry visaThe Dubai service requires valid GCC residence and an occupation within its approved professions, subject to the authority’s assessment. Check that this service matches your intended entry and application route.
Saudi ArabiaVisit Saudi’s official visa selectorUse the residence and nationality options offered by the selector. Follow its current application link and review the resulting visa’s purpose, insurance, entry and stay conditions before paying.
QatarHayya GCC Resident Visa (A2)Hayya offers A2 for GCC residents regardless of nationality. Its FAQ specifies a residence permit valid for three months from the application date and travel to Qatar from the country of residence. Read all A2 conditions for your trip.
OmanGCC resident visa service and the ROP eligibility checkerThe government page identifies approved professionals and companions. It lists at least six months’ passport validity and three months’ GCC residence validity. Use the checker to confirm the category available to you.
BahrainNPRA’s GCC resident visa servicesNPRA lists different products, including a two-week single-entry visa and a one-year multiple-entry visa. The two-week service lists a residence permit with a return visa valid for at least three months. Compare the specific product’s documents and permitted stay.
KuwaitMinistry of Interior visa portalThe portal’s terms require at least six months’ passport validity from entry and, where applicable, six months’ GCC residence validity. Use its eligibility flow and check the conditions attached to the visa type actually issued.

These examples show why one validity rule cannot be copied across all six countries. Check whether a period is measured from application, arrival or another date. If your permit is close to expiry or under renewal, resolve that point with the issuing service before booking around it.

Build a document and date checklist

Use this as a preparation list, then follow the exact uploads requested by the authority. It is not a claim that every country asks for every item.

  • Passport: identity page, document number and expiry date; make sure the same passport is used for the application and travel.
  • Residence evidence: the permit or digital record requested by the service, its expiry and any separate permission required to return to your residence country.
  • Occupation and family details: evidence relevant to a profession-based or accompanying-person route. Check dependants individually.
  • Trip evidence: itinerary, accommodation and onward or return travel when required. Include land crossings and any return entry.
  • Photo and supporting documents: the size, format and translation requirements shown in the application. Use readable current copies.
  • Approval and payment record: save the reference number, receipt and issued visa. A submission acknowledgement is not the same document as an approval.

Create a separate row for each traveller in your own checklist. Record passport expiry, residence expiry, application status, last date to enter, allowed stay and entries remaining. This makes it easier to spot a family member whose documents do not fit the same plan.

Choose the route before comparing the price

Start with the official eligibility service. Your nationality may lead to one option, while GCC residence leads to another. Check the resulting permissions before deciding which fits: how long you can stay, whether you can enter again, which purpose is allowed and whether companions must travel together.

Read the fee breakdown at the point of application. Government charges, insurance and an optional agent’s service charge are different items. A lower advertised total is not useful if the document does not cover your itinerary. We have not published a universal “GCC resident visa price” because there is no single application product in this comparison.

If a portal rejects an occupation or residence category, do not substitute a different one to pass the form. Ask the authority about another route. Use the application’s official reference to follow up rather than sending repeated passport copies to unrelated services.

Once a visa is issued, compare its details with the passport and the planned crossings. For a trip that leaves and returns to the same country, a single-entry permission may not fit. Read our guide to visa validity versus permitted stay before interpreting the dates.

Common questions

Can an Indian, Pakistani or Filipino GCC resident use these routes?

Use the same country comparison, but enter your own passport nationality in the official service. Residence does not erase nationality-based conditions. Hayya’s A2 description expressly includes GCC residents regardless of nationality; that statement should not be copied to every other destination.

Do I have to travel from the country where I live?

Check the selected route. Hayya’s A2 FAQ specifically says to travel to Qatar from your residence country. Do not assume that a permission designed for a resident covers a different itinerary without checking.

Can my family use my approval?

Check each person’s application requirement and any accompanying-person conditions. Keep a separate status record for every traveller. Do not assume one approval covers the whole family.

Is a GCC resident visa the proposed unified tourist visa?

No. These are national services with their own conditions. Read the unified GCC tourist visa guide for what we could verify about that separate project.
