Taiwan’s arrival card is free: the live portal now shows a seven-day submission window

The current TWAC portal and FAQ show seven days before arrival, while older launch guidance says three. Follow the live form and check whether you need to submit.

Taiwan-bound travellers may find two different submission windows in official guidance for the Taiwan Arrival Card, or TWAC. As checked on 25 October 2026, the live TWAC homepage and FAQ say the free online declaration can be completed within seven days before arrival.

Older launch guidance from September 2025 describes a three-day window. Use the current portal's accepted dates when preparing the declaration rather than relying on a saved screenshot of the original announcement.

Check whether the card applies to you

The live portal identifies foreign nationals without an Alien Resident Certificate, resident visa or diplomatic ID among those who should submit. Other traveller categories have their own conditions. Review the eligibility section using the actual documents you will carry.

TWAC records arrival information. Completing it does not grant a visa or establish that a passport is eligible for visa-free entry.

Prepare the information before starting

The current process begins with email verification, followed by traveller information, itinerary, review and confirmation. Have the passport and accommodation information available, and check any automatically imported data against the passport before submitting.

The National Immigration Agency says the online card replaced the traditional paper arrival card from 1 October 2025. This is an existing system with current instructions, not a newly announced visa requirement this week.

Keep the process free and accurate

The agency has warned about websites charging unnecessary fees for the declaration. Type the official TWAC address directly or reach it from the National Immigration Agency website.

Our practical recommendation is to submit once the flight and first accommodation are settled and the intended arrival is inside the portal's permitted window. Keep the confirmation in a travel folder and revisit the service if important details change.

For a group, check each person's passport and exemption status separately. A declaration completed for one traveller does not answer the requirement for the rest of the booking.
