Electronic visas are convenient to store, but they still depend on accurate travel-document information. Before departure, compare the permission with the passport you actually intend to carry.
Review the identity details
Check names, document number, nationality and dates carefully. ASAN Visa’s official application guidance, for example, warns that a difference between the travel-document country and the country recorded on the eVisa makes the eVisa invalid.
That example illustrates why a seemingly small field should not be treated as cosmetic. The procedure for correcting an error depends on the issuing authority.
Do not assume an old approval transfers
If you renew a passport or choose to travel on a different one, contact the official service to find out what that means for an existing permission. Do not assume that carrying both documents always solves the issue. Different countries and visa types can have different rules.
For your own records, keep a note showing which passport was used for each application. When several relatives are travelling, label files with the traveller’s name so one person’s approval is not confused with another’s.
Resolve uncertainty before the airport
Save the issued visa, application reference and any correspondence about a correction. If you ask support for help, describe the exact discrepancy without sending unnecessary personal information through an unverified channel.
Never edit the issued visa yourself. A modified PDF is not an official correction and can create a more serious problem than the original mistake.
The practical habit is to perform one final document comparison before travel. It takes little time and can reveal an issue while there is still an opportunity to ask the issuing authority how to fix it.
