Checked on 21 October 2026. For employees with valid UAE residence, the government portal lists a family-sponsorship salary threshold of AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 with accommodation. Meeting that figure is an initial check, rather than a complete approval decision.

Who can be sponsored?

The government's employee-family guidance covers a spouse, unmarried daughters, sons under 25 and children with special needs. It says sponsorship is possible regardless of job title when the relevant conditions are met. Other sponsor categories and exceptional circumstances can require a different assessment.

The same guidance requires medical-fitness clearance for people aged 18 and over. Plan around each family member's age and circumstances instead of copying another family's document list.

Prepare proof of the relationship and income

For Dubai's family-sponsored entry stage, GDRFA lists a photograph, a passport copy with at least six months' validity, and income or employment evidence appropriate to the sponsor. It also lists certified marriage documentation and attested birth documentation where relevant. Some family situations require additional consent evidence.

Start with the documents that may take time to obtain from another country. Check the required certification and translation route with the receiving authority before paying for a service. An ordinary photocopy, an attested original and a certified translation are different items.

Why one quoted price can be misleading

An entry visa is one stage in a residence process. GDRFA's family-entry page lists an AED 200 visa fee plus VAT, with additional charges in some in-country cases. That amount should not be presented as the total cost of relocating a family.

Ask a service provider to identify the application stage covered by each charge. Where relevant, separate entry or status arrangements, residence issuance, medical testing, identification documents, insurance and the provider's own service fee. Confirm the current authority charges for your case instead of relying on a single social-media package price.

A practical preparation sequence

  • Confirm the sponsor's valid residence and the income/accommodation basis.
  • Check which family members qualify under the relevant category.
  • Gather relationship, identity and employment evidence.
  • Confirm the entry or in-country process before arranging travel.
  • Complete the remaining residence steps within the period stated by the authority.

Keep application references and expiry dates separately for each person. The UAE's general residence guidance explains that validity varies by permit type and sponsor, so one family member's dates should not be assumed to apply to everyone.

For parent sponsorship, a changed family situation or a sponsor outside the standard employee category, request the specific official requirements before using this checklist.
