Qatar’s official visitor guidance offers more than one way to enter. Some travellers qualify for visa-free entry; others may need an electronic visa through Hayya. The useful starting point is the official checker, not a nationality list reposted without a date.
Answer the checker accurately
Visit Qatar asks about nationality, residence and certain other valid visas. The platform describes different Hayya routes, including the A1 tourist visa and A2 GCC resident visa. These are separate categories with their own conditions, not interchangeable names for a single application.
GCC citizenship and GCC residence are different circumstances. A resident should use the details relevant to their passport and residence status rather than choosing a citizen option.
Turn the result into a checklist
Save the route shown for you and read the associated conditions. Check any accommodation, insurance or supporting-document requirements on the official service before committing to your itinerary. Requirements can depend on the category, so avoid combining parts of several online checklists.
For a family trip, repeat the eligibility check for each traveller. Do not assume that every person in the booking has the same permission because the itinerary is shared.
Keep the practical details together
Store your application reference, issued permission, accommodation details and travel dates in one folder. Give the files names that identify the traveller clearly, especially when several people are using the same contact email.
If an application is pending, follow the status route provided by the service. If circumstances change after approval, ask the official support channel whether a correction or new application is needed. The right answer is the one for your own document and travel plan, not a general reassurance from a social-media comment.
