GCC residence and GCC citizenship are different starting points for a Qatar trip. The Hayya A2 category is aimed at foreign nationals who hold residence in a Gulf Cooperation Council state. It is not a claim that an Emirates ID or another residence card gives every holder unconditional visa-free entry.
A Qatar Tourism announcement introduced two-month, multiple-entry A2 features from 30 November 2025. Its detailed questions also addressed older single-entry approvals and said the programme's features would continue to be evaluated. That date should not be republished as a new October 2026 change.
Read the permit you actually receive
Before booking repeat visits, inspect the entry count, first-use deadline and stay conditions on the issued permission. If the document differs from a general article or an old screenshot, ask Hayya for clarification. The authority's contact channel is more useful than guessing which version of a rule applies.
The Hayya FAQ describes a GCC residence-validity condition and travel from the country of residence. Check those details against your actual route, especially if you plan to arrive from a third country.
Prepare a coherent travel file
Keep passport and residence scans clear and current. Use consistent names across accommodation and travel bookings. Where a family member has a different passport or residence position, check that person's route separately.
Visit Qatar's official checker can help identify the appropriate category, and its Hayya guidance also mentions vehicle pre-registration for the Abu Samra border. A road trip therefore needs attention to both travellers' permissions and the vehicle arrangements.
Once approved, save the permit offline and record the dates in a calendar. A payment confirmation or application reference is useful for tracking, but it is not interchangeable with the issued entry permission. This article focuses on checking an A2 approval rather than making a new-policy claim.
