Oman’s official eVisa service begins with a practical question: which visa type fits your circumstances? The Royal Oman Police portal distinguishes visit visas from residence visas and separates sponsored from unsponsored categories. These labels matter more than a generic promise of an “Oman visa”.

Use the eligibility wizard first

The portal’s eligibility process is designed to identify available categories from the information supplied. Answer using your actual passport and current circumstances. A category available to a friend or colleague may not be available to you.

If you have a residence permit in another country, check whether it is relevant to the route the wizard offers. Do not assume that entering the Gulf once creates permission to visit every GCC country.

Read the category conditions

Once a route is identified, open its conditions before preparing the application. Make a separate note of documents, entry restrictions, permitted stay and fees. Copying a checklist from an unrelated visa category can leave an application incomplete even when the documents themselves are genuine.

For your own planning, keep three headings in a note: information to provide, documents to upload and details to verify after issuance. This makes it easier to see what is missing without repeatedly restarting the process.

Keep control of your application

Use an email address you can access and retain the application reference. If a third party helps with data entry, ask to review the completed information before submission and keep the receipt and decision for yourself.

Before departure, compare your issued document with the passport you are carrying. If your itinerary or passport changes, ask the official service how that affects the permission. Resolve the question before arriving at the airline desk.

Verify before you apply
