Selected US immigration-related fees changed on 16 October 2026 under the annual inflation adjustment for H.R.1 fees. The FY2027 inflation adjustment to H.R.1 immigration fees establishes the new amounts and warns that affected requests postmarked on or after that date can be rejected if the proper fee is missing.
The change is targeted. It should not be described as an identical increase to every USCIS form or every immigration application. Some listed amounts remain unchanged because of the statutory adjustment and rounding rules.
Match the fee to the benefit
The notice lists an annual pending asylum application fee of USD 105 and a TPS fee of USD 520. It also lists USD 570 for specified initial employment-authorization categories, including asylum applicants, parolees and TPS applicants. These figures describe particular statutory charges; they are not a universal total for every person using the same form number.
The USCIS announces FY2027 inflation increase and USCIS Fee Schedule are the starting points for checking the current amount required for a specific filing. Review the underlying eligibility category, any additional fee and the accepted payment instructions together. A payment used successfully for another person’s case may not apply to yours.
Avoid building a filing around an old checklist
Where a packet was prepared before 16 October but has not been sent, recheck its fee calculation before dispatch. Keep the date of the check and the relevant official instructions with the filing copy. Confirm that any person helping with the submission is using the same current figures.
It helps to separate preparation tasks into content, form version, signature, destination and payment. A complete set of evidence does not resolve an incorrect charge, and a correct payment does not establish that the rest of the application meets the rules.
For applicants facing another immigration deadline, a rejected payment can have consequences beyond the time needed to resubmit. Do not assume that the fee announcement extends an application deadline or guarantees retention of a filing date. The relevant notice and the instructions for the specific benefit should control the submission plan. This week’s action is a careful category-by-category fee check, not a blanket percentage added to an old total.
