Retiring in the UAE can involve a five-year residence application, but choosing the financial route requires care. Official public pages currently show different annual-income figures. Applicants should resolve that difference with the authority handling their case before moving savings or committing to a property purchase.

The UAE Government retirement overview states an annual-income condition of AED 180,000. It also describes a property-and-savings alternative. Both that overview and Dubai's service conditions refer to at least 15 years of work and a minimum age of 55.

Ask which requirements govern your application

The GDRFA Dubai retirement-residence service instead lists fixed annual income of AED 240,000. Its financial alternative refers to property worth at least AED 1 million together with a deposit of at least AED 1 million. These published differences should not be resolved by assuming the lowest figure applies everywhere.

Ask the issuing authority to identify the applicable service and confirm the current financial condition in writing. Include your age, work history, intended emirate and proposed evidence in the question. Keep its answer with your application records.

Prepare evidence that explains the funds

For the income route, GDRFA lists six months of bank statements and an official letter identifying the income source. Its other evidence lists include property ownership or valuation documents and a financial-deposit certificate. Prepare documents for the route the authority confirms, rather than collecting every possible item.

A personal planning sheet can separate pension payments, investment distributions and transfers between your own accounts. Label those categories clearly so that you can explain which receipts you are relying on. Do not assume that an account's closing balance establishes regular income.

Before cancelling existing residence or signing a long lease, request the complete application sequence, renewal conditions and total charges. Include insurance, identity documentation and any required medical steps in your questions. This guide highlights a verification issue in current published guidance; it does not announce a new retirement policy or determine individual eligibility.
